As mentioned a while ago, I’m putting on a Jumpin’ With Stagger Lee night at Ernest down in the Ouseburn on Saturday September 24th. It’ll run from 9pm – 2am, and it’ll be free. It’s a lush venue and they do fine food and booze.

All vinyl, all killer, no, filler.

Hot Summer Night

Here’s a mix I made at the weekend, nothing too high concept. Just music for dancing.

There’s northern soul and New Orleans funk and organ-driven reggae and a little dash of gospel, jazz and rhythm and blues.

SummerTyne Americana

SummerTyne Americana is over for another year. A full write-up will follow I’m sure, but I had a splendid time playing tunes for two days and drinking like a bastard. There was whisky and music and brisket and blood (including my own). There were also some phenomenal bands – especially 10 String Symphony, Urban Pioneers, Howe Gelb with Gemma Ray and the phenomenal Yola Carter.

Till I get my writing head on, here’s some pics. Props to Graham “Shippy” “Shipcote” Anderson for putting together a brilliant Jumpin’ Hot Stage and Tamsin Austin for everything else.
